Ingredients
  

  • 1 can 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 can 6 oz tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon sugar optional, to balance acidity
  • ÂĽ teaspoon salt
  • ÂĽ teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes optional

Instructions
 

Sauté Garlic

  • Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for 30–60 seconds, until fragrant (do not brown).

Add Tomato Sauce & Paste

  • Stir in tomato sauce and tomato paste. Mix until smooth and fully combined.

Season

  • Add oregano, basil, onion powder, sugar, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir well.

Simmer

  • Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally. The sauce will thicken slightly and the flavors will meld.

Taste & Adjust

  • Taste and adjust seasoning if needed—more herbs, a pinch more sugar, or extra garlic if desired.
