Ingredients
  

For the Chicken and Gravy:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme optional
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or milk optional for creamy gravy

Instructions
 

🍗 How to Make Chicken and Gravy:

  • Season chicken with salt and pepper.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook chicken 5–6 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, melt butter. Stir in flour and whisk continuously to form a roux, cooking for 1–2 minutes until lightly golden.
  • Gradually whisk in chicken broth, then add garlic powder, onion powder, and thyme. Bring to a simmer.
  • Optional: Stir in cream or milk for a richer gravy.
  • Return chicken to the skillet and simmer in the gravy for 5 minutes, spooning sauce over the top.
  • Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or biscuits.

Notes

💡 For extra flavor, use bone-in chicken and cook a bit longer. A dash of soy sauce or Dijon mustard can deepen the gravy flavor too.
